Flicker 1987

Flicker is my first installation ever - shown here in 1987 at the Klaus Werth art gallery in Frankfurt. The installation is placed in a perfectly white space just to be seen from the outside through the main window at night.

2 monitors are facing the white walls and illuminate them with permutations of light pulses. A small monitor on top faces the audience displaying the same sequence. The mesmerizing pulses are freeing the space expanding it toward subliminal territory. This installation is driven by algorithmic instructions producing both image and sound illuminating the environment.
